Viola Davis (How to Get Away with Murder ou encore The Suicide Squad) s'est fait connaître du grand public grâce à son rôle de Aibileen Clark dans La Couleur des sentiments de Tate Taylor. 9 ans après la sortie du film à succès, l'actrice avoue regretter d'avoir joué ce rôle :  "Il m'a semblé qu'au bout du compte, ce n'était pas les voix des domestiques qu'on entendait." expliquait-t-elle. "Je connais Aibileen. Je connais Minny. Elles sont ma grand-mère. Elles sont ma mère. Et ce dont je suis sûre, c'est que si on veut faire un film dans lequel le postulat principal est de comprendre ce que ça faisait de travailler pour des Blancs et d'élever des enfants en 1963, j'ai envie d'entendre ce que ça faisait vraiment. Je n'ai jamais entendu ça au cours de ce film"
